    Job History

Hi, I'm 21 year old about to graduate with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. I have maintaned
a 4.0 through my entire undergraduate career. I have one speeding ticket, although a few stops because I used to drive a muscle car. The speeding ticket was dismissed through defensive driving.
    -Never touched drugs.
-I have tried alcohol only after I turned 21 and have never been drunk.
I'm worried about my job history though. I worked at a warehouse for about 6 months and got hurt twice. Went on workers comp for about 2 or 3 weeks each
time. The doctor cleared me each time and says I'm fine. (Is that ok? Will that hurt background?) I held about 3 jobs during the time I was in college. As a cashier I left without giving proper notice( could not as they did not have a number to reach they changed it and I could not get out there to talk to anyone early enough. It was considered a nocall no show, even though I went to talk to my supervisor. He said it was cool, but just policy, he also said he would give me a good reference.
Other than the cashier job, i gave my two weeks notice.
Anyway, is that too much baggage? Am i automatically disqualified? Appreciate any help, and you can be brutally honest. Im hoping to salvage my job history by being a jailer or security guard for at least 2 years. Will the past drag me down?

If you're serious about wanting to become a cop, don't make excuses for poor choices. Having a muscle car, or any car, does not result in you getting a ticket or being stopped. YOUR driving does that, be an adult and take responsibility for your actions (especially if you're seeking to work in a field where you'll be tasked with holding others responsible for their actions).

Nothing you stated above would be an "automatic disqualification" for any agency I've worked for or have knowledge of, but it could play against you as far as overall competitiveness. Just depends, apply and give it your best shot. If they say know, build on your qualifications further and try again.

Also, if you're considering being a jailer or security guard if you can't get hired as a cop I'd advise the corrections work over security. You can work on your state retirement in many places, and while both are different from law enforcement, corrections would be more relevant to police work, IMHO.

Appreciate the honesty, but I don't mean I was stopped for speeding or reckless driving. I was stopped for no front licencse plate, failing to signal 100 feet before a turn, window tint(it was legal just looked too dark). All of these were warnings. I drive a normal car now and have not been bothered in over a year.
I've still had over 7 stops. The area I live in is About 30 minutes from a major drug corrider in I35-and
I10, which is why I think I was stopped. I don't blame law enforcement, I understand suspicious because
I'm young, but I've always been courteous to the officers and got warnings. Except when I was speeding. I was speeding at night through a work zone I did not know about.
Thank you for responding, I will try
