1. It's only been a year since you last screwed up - you need to prove that you've changed over a longer period of time.
2. Stealing is stealing whether you were caught or not. If you still don't know how to answer "have you ever stolen anything", Give Up Now.
3. Right and Wrong is about the same in Canada as it is just about everywhere else.
4. The "shame", YOUR shame, SHOULD be that you knowingly did Wrong - not that you might be denied a LE job.
Hi Samuel,
Thanks for the answer I really appreciate it. I realize stealing is stealing and I regret doing it. If I were to be questioned if I have ever stole anything, I would come clean of course. Lying through an application process is the worst thing you can do in which what I have heard. Thanks for the answer.
Suggestions:
Finish school (preferably major in something non LE/CJ related)
Stay out of trouble
Get fluent in a second or third language
Keep your credit history good
Establish a good track record of either military or work
Thanks for the suggestions. I know Arabic but not completely fluent, so I'm planning to boost on that soon once I settle in school. I also plan to start volunteering with the police department next semester as well. If you don't mind explaining, is there something wrong with majoring in Criminal Justice? What if I were to get a Degree in Psychology? I find that a bit interesting but I'd prefer criminal justice.
Nothing wrong per se but, just in case, you'll have options/alternatives...
How about paying back Amazon ?
Creeper Cop
Sorry, I typed that totally wrong. Even if i were not accepted in a police department, I would stay pay it off. Just when I get the means of a proper pay cheque to support myself.
I've said it many times, anything can be overcome given enough time. With what you have detailed, I would expect to wait at least 10 years, before you are even considered a decent candidate and probably another 5-10 years after that to actually get hired. All hiring is done on a curve and you will be competing against people who have not done the things you have. What you have done shows a serious lack of integrity and that is one thing cops must have. When the things you have detailed show up in your BI, they will also show up in your personnel record. Any good defense lawyer will be requesting that file when they are getting ready to grill you on the stand. ANY actions that show a lack of integrity or honesty will be brought up and you will be torn apart.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new guards for their future security.
Translation for the intellectually challenged: If the government screws the people too much, it is the right and duty of the people to revolt and form a new government.
Hey, thanks for the answer, I appreciate it! This stuff has never been recorded though, no one knows about it except myself. I truly regret doing it which is why I was seeking advice. However if it's going to take that long even though I've stopped and isn't recorded, might as well just say bye to this career.
Thanks.
