School Safety Agent/Traffic Enforcement Agent

I read on the NYPD Recruit website that both of these jobs offer promotion to police officer. I had a couple of questions about that.

1) How long would one be required to hold one of these positions before being eligible for
promotion to police officer?

2) Would you still be required to go through the whole hiring process to become a police
officer? (Written Exam, Medical, Psych, Background, etc)

3) If you were being considered for promotion would you have to wait behind all the
applicants who are already approved to go into the academy or would you enter the next
available academy?
