Is my background too bad?

Im 21 now and i will be graduaiting when i am 22 and then i plan to apply to a an agency in florida. What really worries me is my past drug use in highschool. I have had a few speeding tickets and a reckless driving when i just got my liscence but i have not even been pulled over in 4 years. Between the ages of 15 and 17 i smoked pot prbably about ten times. Regretibly, i did acid one time when i was 17. In that same time period i have done "whip-its." In college i used my friends aderol (prescription drug for ADD) because i was having trouble concentrating, it didn't work so i never used it again. Again between the ages of 15 and 17 i also have used percocet with alcohol twice. And in my freshman year of college, i inhaled CO2 from a balloon at a club. In college i have driven a couple of times under the influence of alcohol when i probably had had too much. I am a safe driver and i havent been behind the wheel after i have drank for 3 years. When i was 16 I stole ciggarrettes occasionally because i was not old enough to smoke, now i dont smoke at all. I have never been arrested or anything. Anyways, I'm 21 years old now and i am a mature adult. I would hope that my past would just be considered experimental uses results of teenage confusion and that it was abvious there was a point in which i really matured and realized the mistakes of my youth. But i dont know, are there really that many straight edge people out there with squeeky clean pasts. Or are there any cops out there that have had the same type of younger years?

You are ( unfortunately) becoming the more typical young person these days. What is it with the use of drugs ? I forsee a problem with the LSD and the other drug use. You might as well apply and find out. I suspect the more time that passes from all of these youthful " indescretions" will look better for you.

Stay away from the wrong crowd that uses drugs and abuses alcohol, do NOT drive after drinking the new BAC is down to .08, do something positive in your life such as volunteer work , charity food drive, assist the elderly. Show signs of maturity by going out and doing something as opposed to just celebrating a birthday once a year.

Here is my OPINION:

-The acid will be your biggest problem, most if not all departments consider hallucinogens to be an automatic DQ
-The fact that you were never arrested or caught means absolutely nothing, they will ask about criminal actions period, regardless of being caught
-Yes, there are cops and applicants out there with clean pasts (I'm one of them, never done any kind of drug ever)
-Yes, there are also cops and applicants that have had rough backgrounds. But who do you think the hiring board will pick, all things being equal?
-Looks like you have done a lot of illegal things, the fact that you are only 21 may hurt you.
-Go ahead and apply and be completely honest and forthcoming, the worst they can do is say no.

No agency in Ga would pick you up because of the acid use. Sorry.

You'll have to put a lot of time between applying and the drug use. Some agencies require 10 years since the last time you used "hard" drugs and some may never hire you. I personally don't agree with it, but that that's the way it is.
