Hi Everyone - This is my first post in these forums, therefore, I'd like to introduce myself by saying I'm a male in my late 20's that is currently undergoing the background and hiring process for the NYPD.
With that said, my question is regarding the NYPD Physical Agility Test, specifically the trigger pull station at the end . Today was my first attempt at completing the test and I failed after my time expired when I was only able to complete 12 of the 15 shots with my left (weak) hand. After squeezing off 16 shots with my right hand, I switched to my left and I got up to 9 when I started having trouble pulling the trigger. Once I got to 12, my time had expired. My question to you everyone here, are there any tips that you all may suggest on how to best approach this part of the test? I've heard many people say to practice with a spray bottle filled with water or even hand or finger grips. I've also read somewhere that on the test station before the trigger pull (the 170 dummy pull), you should not use your trigger (index) fingers when gripping the rope on the dummy. Are there any other tips or suggestions that anyone else may have? I would greatly appreciate any advice, tips, suggestions, etc. from anyone who may have something. Thank you all for taking the time to read this post and for any input.
