Last process of going through my conditional offer is done!

Well just got done with a FULL day of tests and interviews with a shrink lol. Very glad to get today done.

I was just wondering if most of them like the same type questions , "do you have special powers, do you hear voices no one else can, do you resent your dad, how was your home life, what makes you angry, and my personal favorite is, and I quote again, "have you ever pictured your mother naked or thought about having sex with her"(dead serious)

Now i realize that some of these questions like if i hear voices and mess are semi important but what in the world would that last question have to do with anything? (for the record it was a hell no lol).

I guess what i'm getting at is besides looking for personality disorders what else are they looking for in a psych?

You might be surprised to learn some people do have an Oedipus complex. Some strange people out there. I dunno what they're looking for, but I know every time we changed psychologists, I saw distinctly different personalities being hired.

They are looking for ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that you didn't otherwise tell them.

Yes, they are the voices in my head. The loudest is named "conscience" but ... ther...are...others.

do you resent your dad,

No.

how was your home life

Pretty good considering all the orderlies and nurses with the constant injections of thorazine. When the Big Chief left, there were lots of changes.

what makes you angry,

lots of questiong brings out the angry voices in my head.

"have you ever pictured your mother naked or thought about having sex with her"

(in a crescending voice and growing grin) not until now!!! Thanks Doc!! Oh and I need to change that "resent dad question now. Annnndd I goottta be going. New voices have just arrived and they have LOTS of ideas.

Seriously, don't label that question your personal favorite.

I believe the goal of the questions are to determine whether you have undergone a normal and healthy development that allows you to relate to same/opposite genders appropriately and haven't stagnated developmentally.

Just a question, do you have any idea abou the number of people not hired due to failing their psych?

I was talking to my chief about it and he said in almost 25 years of law enforcement he can't remember but 3 or 4 people that he had heard of failing it.

Another question, im guessig that most depts have a pretty good idea before they spend that kind of money going through that. Mine inparticular being that i'm going already at the beg of next week to get sized and order uniforms b4 the results will even be in. I'm sure its not a waste of time but didn't know if it was alot more for legal issue's that might arise if something were to happen to put an officer in a position of being in a lawsuit with the psych giving the dept a bit of a legal cushion so to speak?
