    EAS Soon

Ok so, I'm getting out of the Marine Corps and want to become a police officer. I'm a CPL who has never been in trouble and received my good cookie at my 3 year mark. I have some questions regarding my background and could use some input on what you guys
    think.

I have never been arrested. I have had one speeding ticket 9 years ago and 2 parking tickets. I smoked weed when I was 19 maybe 4 times. I had some debut that was past due and couldn't pay it off due to not having a job. When I joined the corps I was told to either come up with 8000 to pay it off or file bankruptcy otherwise my security clearance would be revoked. I eneded up filing that would be 4 years ago. Since then all my bills have been on time and have 2 bran new cars my my wife and I. I was in sales prior to joining and had a hard time keeping jobs. I have a AA degree in arts and Bachelors in Business. I take responsibility for my credit mistakes and blame only myself. I however have made better decisions and now raise 2 kids and have been married for 5 years.

When you EAS get a job...stick with it...keep paying all your bills in you shoudl be fine. It will take time to get hired. Time works for you. NYPD won't touch you with a BK less than five years due to immaturity/lack of attention to debt. Not putting you down or insulting you, but you seem to admit you couldn't keep a sales job and overspent before you got it together. One more year and you woudl be good to go with them!

No offense taken. I was a dumb punk kid who thought he had the world figured out. The Marine Corps actually straightened me out. I'm 29 so I have had lots of time to make mistakes which I can't afford to make anymore. Thanks for the response.
