Hey guys,
I'm applying to police and sheriff's departments and had a question I hope you could answer. I took a bite of a marijuana brownie in 2005 at a friend's house. When filling out my initial background applications for two departments, I mistakenly listed that the brownie contained hashish (I am very naive about drugs and thought that brownies with marijuana were called "hash brownies"). So, recently I talked to my friend who also tried the brownie and is not so naive and he told me that he was 100% sure it was a marijuana brownie.
Now, I have a background interview coming up and my question is: Should I tell the background investigator that I made a mistake on my prior applications and say that the only illegal drug I've tried is marijuana? Or, will this seem like an obvious lie and am I better off just listing hashish and dealing with the consequences? Or, should I just list that I've only tried marijuana and hope that the investigator doesn't see what I've listed on the prior background applications (I've applied to a number of different agencies and maybe it would just get lost in the fold...). Anyways, thanks and any advice would be appreciated.
