You wrote hot checks? In other words you've stolen from people? Not to give you a hard time man but probably not. Give it a shot though, who knows...

How about being more specific ? Were you charged with Bad Checks or Theft by Deception ? What was the outcome ? How many and how long ago ?

Being more specific is a good response.

It depends on what type of background check you are trying to pass.

If you apply for a job that requires a background check , having a criminal history of multiple bad checks and/ or Theft by Deception is going to be TOUGH to overcome.

Maybe stick to jobs that don't require a background check.

Are you asking about a background check for some random job, or a background investigation (more than just a simple check) for a law enforcement job?

But that is the million dollar question isn't it? Background checks come in all shapes and sizes, and just having a record should not deter someone from applying, because a history does not mean unfavorable adjudication.

For instance the OP might pass an entry level military background check, as long as credit is not an issue. I've seen worse offenders successfully enlist.

And employers are still operating on an incredibly wide range of what constitutes a "background check."; as well as reasons for disqualifying.

Repetitive stupidity on Social Networking sites is sufficient for some, and there is no law in violation that.

My advice to the OP would be to spend a little money and get your own background check and credit report (your CJIS records are not expensive to obtain), and then clean up anything that is possible, including inaccuracies which are common!
