Okay so a little about myself. My name is Michael and I just turned 25 years old. I always wanted to work in law enforcement but never really pursued it like I'm ready to now. I have absolutely no criminal background (including drugs, DUI's etc), no moving/traffic violations (tickets). What I do have though that I'm worried about is a spotty employment history and a repo on a car from 5 years ago.
The spotty employment has to do with not having a stable home and being on the move a lot.. as well as me going back to college two times. My credit score is very bad though. I have 2 negative things.. one a small cell phone debt of 300 and a written off debt of 8000 for the car repo. I tried to work out a deal on the repo but the bank was unwilling to work out payment plans or even pick up the vehicle because the engine blew up. I was mainly just being an irresponsible 20 year old by getting a car I couldn't afford, no way around it.
Are these two things likely to disqualify me even with the positives I mentioned? If I pass all my tests in the application like the physical, agility, psych, verbal and poly with flying colors can it offset these 2 major negatives on my application? I'm sorry for asking you guys questions you've probably already heard 100 times but I'm really serious about getting into this career and want to give myself the best shot possible.

. You are correct. What basically happened is I told them the engine blew up and I need a new car so couldn't afford to pay the full amount, at the same rate. I talked to their corporate about voluntary repo+ payment plan but they kept giving me the run around. I called for months.. telling them to please pick up the car because I don't want a repo on my record and the entire time I said I'd be willing to negotiate a more affordable payment.
