    Woo :) Getting closer!

When I got home for lunch at 11 today I have a letter from USPS saying "sorry you weren't here" it said the sender of the original letter was north little rock pd!

I went through the rest of the 5 hours of work in a nervous wreck, finally when I got off work I went straight to the post office, and got my letter.
I opened it and read " dear mr ***** we have continued in the process and would like for you to continue with us" I passed written with 82, passed their intense physical with plenty of time leftover, passed the interview board, now just have the thorough background, then polygraph/psychological, then letter of hire.

My stomach immediately dropped and I yelled "YES!" pretty loud in a pretty full parking lot haha. I don't really care how crazy I must have looked I'm getting real close to hopefully getting that letter of conditional hire!!

Thanks for any and all help you guys have given, hope the last few steps go well for me and this last month or so flys by. Academy is august 22nd and I hope I'm in the car heading down there !!

Wish me luck and if you have any tips for the intense final background check let me know!

Rather than wish you luck, I wish you success based upon your hard work and tenacity.

Feb of 1986 , I found a pink WYWO note in my mailbox at work from the chief of police who ultimately hired me. I STILL have that note The message was to call him , March 10th of 1986 I was hired. I remember the feeling that you now have.

Handwork is definitely there - I have done plenty of ride alongs/scheduled more, talked to a couple chiefs, talked with plenty of officers (one being my best friend who is on swat and the other a long time family friend who is in CID- countless hours), been through the process with 4 departments, countless Internet and literature research, insane physical training, and I go to the range almost every weekend ( for personal fun ;) but hey it's a plus)
I think Ive done all I can, but continue to look for more ways to improve on my eligibility.

Your post gives me tons of inspiration! I can't wait and hope that I get that letter of hire soon too!
I want this so bad and truly believe I'm cut out for it.

Heh, I threw mine on the kitchen table and debated with myself as to whether or not to take it. I wasn't all that sure I wanted to be a cop, but thought after going through all that testing, I might as well. I was selling cars at the time and I could always go back to that easy enough. I'm glad that I did take it, but there was no big elation for me at the time.

I went on the street with a FTO for two months before I went to the academy. My FTO worked traffic and the first traffic stop of my police career was in the ghetto right after the riots and the whole neighborhood came down on us. I had the price tags still on my uniform and I'm inna hell of a fight! I spent the rest of the shift reading comic books while my FTO and all the people that rescued us wrote the reports. I had no idea how to do write a report yet. It was all downhill and less exciting after that. I hadn't had that much adrenaline pumping since Vietnam and knew I found a home!

WEll my interview today went very well! I was informed that I am down to the last 10 people out of the huge amount of people that applied. I will be going back in next week for an interview with the chief!!

I am beyond extremely excited at this point.

The only things that have me worried right now are credit score, 2 speeding tickets, and a one time drug use over a year ago when i went in to get my tattoo ( one pain reliever that was subscribed to me-just out of date)

Ive had a VERY rough last few years financially and it has taken its toll on my credit score, I have been supporting myself and my girlfriend of 2 years and her son who is 5. The money just hasnt been there until she just recently landed a good job. I have tried to stay on top of bills but just seems like there is "to much month at the end of the money." 99% of my debts are student loans from college that have become recently due and I am left with no resources to pay them.

If anyone has any experience with hiring process please help me out with these situations as best you can. I understand that you dont know me and arent from the dept im applying to but, any inisght is welcomed.

Again I CAN NOT wait until my iterview with the chief next week and am hoping like crazy that I will be able to be verified on here soon :D

Thanks for all your guys help so far!

We were VERY probably going to hire a guy until he didn't show for his final interview.

It seems that he and his pals stayed up until 0300 drinking beer and playing video games and he overslept.

    Don't be that guy

Ah you mean I can't wear my camo shorts and pantera shirt to the Chief interview??

lol I can't believe some of the stories you guys have about ignorant candidates- I have wanted to do this all my life there isn't anything other than death that will keep me from giving 3000% through this process.

Lol planned on 3 piece suit like I've worn at every appearance so far.

What do you guys think about a black shirt with a black suit- like all black. Bad or good

I would say do whatever feels best to you. Sometimes, in each situation, certain things are better than others. You certainly couldn't go wrong I think wearing all black. It's like like black is inherently bad or something! It could be okay to wear something at one interview, and not at another. The same goes for what to say, do, think, etc. Do what feels best to you.

Not that all black is bad- just maybe not professional enough to be all blacked out.

Still pumped about this coming weeks interview- I believe I'll be doing the poly/psych also - not for sure just a possibility, because they said I will be talking to chief and they said I'll be there for hour 1/2 to 2 hours- and chief would only take 15 mins.
