    Background Info - roommates?

I plan to apply for LAPD in the somewhat near future so I downloaded a copy of their background form to start digging up some of the info they need. The section on past roommates got me a little worried. During my four years of college, I lived in a dorm, then five different apartments with about 15 different roommates, most of which were randomly assigned. I don't know most of their names (in fact I only knew their first names when I lived with them) as I only lived with them for a few months at a time and was only friends with one or two of them. And this was several years ago.

My fear is that I won't be able to track down their names, let alone their contact information. I'm hoping that I can get their names from my school's housing department, but they might not have it or give it to me. Even if I get that far, I'm sure they won't give me any contact info even if they have it (and they probably don't).

Just curious if anyone else has been through a similar situation and how they got through it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not a big deal. Fill in what you can but honestly NOBODY would remember all of their college or military roommates. Just say you don't remember. They/we are more interested in a person whom you DIRECTLY lived with as opposed to a dormie that came and went.

They want to talk to roomies and neighbors who actually KNEW you well enough to form an opinion about your background and life to help in determining if you qualify to be a LEO.

That a tactic employers use to see how detailed and thorough you can fill out an application. Just fill it out to the best of your knowledge.

That's not the way with LE applications. They want to know because they want to talk to them.

If you call the college, they should have records of who was assigned to the room... maybe. Otherwise, like mcsap says, just tell them you don't know.
