    Background Pre-evaluation

Hello my name is Kevin. I would like to know if my experimentation as a teenager will effect my possibilities of obtaining ANY job within law enforcment. Here is what I have done...
    Marijuana occasionally as a teenager.
Experimented with Cocaine twice as a teenager.
Experimented once with mushrooms as a teenager.

I deeply regret having done that as a teenager. I have made up in the years following. I joined the United States Marine Corps in 2007 at the age of 18, I enlisted as an 0331 Machinegunner. I carried on to have my first combat deployment to Hit, Iraq in 2008. I then went to Infantry Machinegun Leaders course, became certified as a Combat Life Saver, Obtained my cert in CPR by the AHA. Became Certified in Search/Tactial Site Exploitation. Then went on to my last combat deployment, to Afghanistan in the summer of 2010. Immediatly upon arriving there I picked up the rank of Corporal. I was in charge of a Machinegun squad during combat and saw extensive fighting in the battles of Musaquela, Marjah, and the Battle of Sangin and Election day. I helped in the turnover of the Sangin battle-space from the British Royal Marines to the USMC and help set up new TTP's to fight in the jungle like warfare of the area. I recieved a medal for Valor and am being reviewed for a Purple Heart.

Do I have a chance considering what ive done to make up for my teenage stupidity?

Mushrooms will disqualify you from all the departments I know. Many will forgive experimentation in anything except hallucinogens.

    Sorry.

Thank you for your service and I mean that...

Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

Before abandoning all hope , call around and ask. in some areas , the reasons for DQ vary , especially if the use was pre-18 and you have had a significant change of lifestyle since then. It can't hurt to try.

I agree with mcsap above, don't totally give up 'cause then you'll definitely lose. You are a combat tested leader of Marines now and that might just stand for something out in the world. Although I also know that the shrooms would DQ you from any agency in my area. But that's just one area out of this huge country.

As for what you've done with your life since, I salute you Leatherneck! Thank you for your service, not many your age know that freedom fought for tastes so much sweeter than freedom given.
