How personal do interview questions get?

How deep into your personal life do interview questions get when applying for a police officer position? In other words what aspects of your personal life other than drugs, alcohol, history of domestic violence, and any rap sheets do they want to know about?

    thanks,

    dave

The most personal questions will usually come during the polygraph, the other areas that are covered that you didn't mention are in regards to finances and sex (prostitution, child porn, etc.), criminal history, and driving history. Psychological interviews can get pretty personal as well, although I've never done one.

I don't recall being really uncomfortable with the questions. Of course, if you were a necrophiliac or something, then I can see you would be worried.

They will dig as deep as your background, answers to questions and their standard concerns about applicants cause them too.

A neighboring dept hired a guy and about 4 months later found out he was running a porno website with pics of himself in the buff. He doesn't work there anymore.

Each dept. varies as to their depth.

My BI included every fight I was in with a sibling, every detailed criminal activity, and each minor thing you could think of.

They want to know EVERYTHING about you. They know there are going to be bad things in every person's life.

They are making a major investment with you and the public is instilling a massive amount of trust as a PO. They want to leave no stone unturned.

Be ready to bare your soul. When you get to the poly they are going to want to know everything. At least thats how the departments I have been to were. I got into more than my share of things when I was a kid and it was hard talking about some of it. Mostly because I can't believe that I was that childish once. Be honest during the process and you should be fine as long as you didn't do anything really bad or too recent.
And your whiney *** crybaby excuse would be....

If I had to talk about every fight I had with my brothers, I'd STILL be in the interview!!! We're Italian, we argue constantly!!

Funny, I was never uncomfortable with any of my questions. I just figured they have heard it all, and if they want to ask, they'd better be prepared to hear my answers!
