I am in college and I was wondering if being employed by Kmart, or Walmart, etc will be looked down upon once I apply for a LEO position?

As long as you did a good job while you were there, it will have no effect at all.
I worked for a fast food place, a gas station, a temp agency, and a tuxedo chain before getting hired.

Not at all. I was a used car salesman.....

Not at all. Work hard, show up on time. A stable job history is a indicator of having a good work ethic. I worked at a gas station, and then full time at a department store putting myself through college. Proabably one of the reasons I got hired at such a young age was due to my work ethic.
Excuse me Officer, I have a stupid Question. "No problem, I've got a stupid answer for you!"
It isn't what you did but HOW you did it that counts.
I drove a delivery truck for an Office Products company.

My new hero!
After I retired from the Marine Corps I had to pick up a part time job at Wal Mart to make ends meet until I got into the LE field (worked there mainly during the academy).
Then I did something I always said I would do after leaving the Marines: I QUIT!! Just because I could!!
That, and I could no longer fit into the hours they wanted me to work and I had to get a different part time job.

Where you work won't be a problem. I sacked groceries. Just be sure to have a stable work history with good professional references. Good luck!
