Do I have a chance in becoming a police officer...

Hello, I am a 21 year old male. I have recently taking a test to become a police officer. I scored 85. But the thing is when I was a sophomore in High School I was in summer school. I was just turning 17 at the time and I got into a fight with a kid that was consider in being a child. I was arrested because another kid jump into the fight and this kid that I was fighting got a broken nose. I was charged with a misdemeanor. From then I have learned a lot from my mistakes and moved on. This is the first time I have ever been in trouble. I have went on to college and received an associates degree and now I am working for a 4 yr. degree. I just got married with a son on the way. I have always wanted to be a cop and I am still hoping that I still can. Could anybody please let me know if I still hold a chance or would I be passed up because if this incident that I did when I was in High School.

I don't think that incident alone would disqualify you.

Probably most cops were in fights while in high school, but were fortunate enough not to get arrested for them.

A juvenile arrest for Assault that resulted in a broken nose is NOT that big of a deal. You sound like you have matured a lot since then. Include it on your app but don't let it worry you. They will ask you about it. Answer every question truthfully and it will be perceived as the non incident that it is.

Not sure what you are saying here.......what were you charged with??

The type of crime is a major issue.

I really don't think you will have any problem if that is the only thing that you have done wrong. Have you used any drugs?
And your whiney *** crybaby excuse would be....

Believe it or not drugs have never been something I wanted to give a try. So the question is nope never been arrested or have been in trouble for drugs.

I'm confused. Are you telling us that you've never been arrested? If you are, I beg to differ.

A charge of assault will make them look harder at you, but like mcsap said, it was 4 years ago, and you were still a child. Don't be suprised though, if you have a harder time. There are other applicants who don't have that black smudge in their history.
