    I would like some advice..

Granted I am 17 years of age, but the reason why I had joined this site was so I can get advice from veteran officers. I have wanted to go into Law Enforcement since I was 7, that's 10 years. I am on my way to becoming one, but I'm going to go into the navy once i graduate not just for the schooling but for the on the job training and self discipline it would give me. I would really appreciate if any of the officers on here would give me advice on how Law Enforcement has impacted their lives, and any experiences that you would like to share with me. If you have any questions for me please ask me because I sure do have questions for you as well.

    Thank you

If you're serious, I recommend going on as many ridealongs (different agencies, different shifts, different officers, etc) as you can...

For now , just be eager to finish HS. Stay away from " friends " that could ruin EVERYTHING.

Be the best person you can be in the USN regardless of your actual job. Years from now , someone will be doing a bcakground check on you. You can determine what they will say if you do a great job. You will also determine what they say if you do a lousy job.

    The choice is yours.

Some college would be helpful too. I admit I was in before the Internet, but the U of Maryland offered correspondence classes then to military at a very low price. I suspect that on line courses are available for the military now, but some others who have been in recently can tell you more.

I was in for 6 years and much of that time I had at least one college course going and when by the time I got out, I had my freshman year completed. It can be a bit of a hassle, but I found it worth it. And if you can get more after you get out, it will make you more marketable to good agencies.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

Yep, there is tuition assistance in the military. They'll pay for just about everything, and that's completely separate from the GI Bill, so you aren't exhausting that benefit at all. If you're disciplined and dedicated, you can really accomplish a lot during your time in the military. I really wish I would have done schooling while in! Doing en enlistment seems to be the best thing someone can do for them self if looking to go into LE, IMO.
