Question Going through Background, getting a phone call for a 'Meet and Greet'?

    Hello everyone.
    HIM here.
Went through my initial background interview with LAPD.
    Went well I think.
The back ground detective said I look like a good candidate, the only thing he thought would hurt me would be that my ex wife let a car get repossessed that I cosigned for about 5 months ago.
I explained to the detective that I had no control over that, and he said that it could cost me the position.

Two days after that interview I got a call from my LAPD 'Mentor' and she told me that I was invited to a 'Meet and Greet' this week downtown at the personal building.

I have no idea what to expect from this....
I am just going to show up and do the best I can.

Dress like you want to be hired for a professional position , because you should be.

    Yes sir.
I always wear blue suit, white shirt, blue tie, black polished shoes. When I have any interaction with them.
I see some people that seem to be over dressed, and some that wear jeans and tee-shirts, I would rather err on the side of caution and dress for business.

I keep my tuxedo reserved for my -other- meetings. ;)

Have you ever heard of a "meet and greet"????

I talked to my friend who is also an LAPD recruit and he never got one...

    So I am curious.

ummm I take it you have seen people do this?? that is HILARIOUS......

I could be wrong but is'nt a meet and greet when the police meet with the community to discuss issues.....seems like we had one in my town not to long ago and that's what it consisted of... I could be very wrong though...

    either way GOOD LUCK!

Went to the 'meet and greet' last night.
The hiring captain of the LAPD spoke, and it was very interseting.
A few other members from the department spoke, and talked about how they got envolved in LE.
It was a very good experience, and I am very glad I got the invite.
I thanked the Captain after the program was over, and I hope he remembers me when going through my file. ;)
Excellent, now I have to wait to find out what the BG detectives say, and wait for my POLY date.
