    Opinions about my background.

    Hi guys,

I am new to this site and would really appreciate some feedback.
I am starting the police academy in 10 weeks (putting myself through).
I have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and I am half way through my Masters in Forensic Psychology.
    No drug use whatsoever.
    Never been arrested.
I had a bankruptcy 7 years ago and I foreclosed on some houses 2 years ago, my credit is in the low 600's but I am building it.
No credit card debt and all other debts paid on time.
I had a very high T-Score on my written and physical exams.
The issue is that about 5 years ago I slept with a prostitute... at the time I thought that I was in love with her and wanted to have a relationship with her... I soon learned that you cannot have a meaningful relationship with someone in that profession! I paid about 5 times to sleep with her during what I thought was the "getting to know you" process. I was never caught.
Will this look back on my background check and will this disqualify me from being an officer?
The only other black marks in my life history is that I keyed my uncles car when I was 12 (I am currently 33.
I got suspended from high school for a day for fighting (but graduated with honors at the tender age of 15... I was a nerd!)
And when I was about 18 I lied to my insurance company that some CD's were stolen from my car during a vandalism to up my claim by $50. (My vehicle really did get vandalized but no CD's were stolen.)
I have had some speeding tickets in the past but by the time I go through the background check in September I will have no points on my record as they will have dropped off by then.
I'm not sure if it matters but I am an East Indian male.
What are my chances of passing the background investigation and will I be automatically disqualified for the 'falling for a prostitute' thing?
I do not hang out with any criminals or anyone with a criminal record.
Thanks guys and I really appreciate any feedback you guys can give me. Becoming a LEO has always been a dream of mine.
    Thanks once again!

That would be an automatic disqualification here as an undetected crime of moral turpitude.

If as you say becoming a LEO has always been a dream of yours, I'm not quite sure how you thought it was okay to solicit a prostitute five times.

And you were 27 at the time. Your morals should be well in place by that age and be mature enough to know better. You would be DQ'd from our process.
Excuse me Officer, I have a stupid Question. "No problem, I've got a stupid answer for you!"

I agree with above posters and I really couldn't give you any advice other than to save your time and money and don't put yourself through police academy. There's other careers out there similar to LE you might try. Honestly dude I can't see how anyone would hire you.

This is what amazes me , and I have been complaining to our representatives about. How does he even get into a police academy?

Yep, here the vision requirements to get in the academy are not as strict as those for certifcation. At my former department we have 3 people that have been hired and haven't been able to work for months due to needing LASIK to meet the uncorrected requirement. That standard should have to be met BEFORE the academy, but then they'd lose money since most people in this state self-sponsor.
