The living expenses aren't that bad. I bought a 1,700 sq ft home in a suburb for $158,000. I make enough that my wide doesn't work, and I own a 2001 mid-size car and an '04 minivan.

If your spouse works, you can pich up that SUV and boat.

A lot of heat is getting put on the mayor right now because we are getting so low on manpower. We are 242 positions off the street right now. All positions above lt. are filled, so all the vacancies are in patrol and detectives. We are authorized at 1,100. And the retirements keep coming. The crime keeps rising.

It's true, they have only a fraction of the BI's that they once had. Our new hires are only trickling in. We are still waiting for the change, because we have hit breaking point in the mayor's request to "do more with less".
In time we hate that which we often fear.
