Yikes, Having problems remembering dates and places.

I am filling out my LAPD background application, and I am having a bit of a problem remembering the exact dates of where I lived.
*They want me to go back 10 years, and I have lived in 12 places, all over the country.
Also, I am having issues remembering all of my jobs, Some were long term, and others were short term, not for disciplinary actions, but because of the field I worked in people often change companies. *real estate.
I spoke to my LADP 'mentor' and she advised me that this would not count against me, but to be sure of put the exact dates, times ect.
    Blah...
    Just wanted to vent.

PS I read the sticky about getting the work history mailed to you... But I don't think I have the time for that.

Not sure what magic you're expecting, but if you don't recall work history I doubt anyone here (or at the department you're applying to) is going to remember it for you. Fill out what you recall, send off for your work history as advised in the stickied thread, and inform interviewers if they ask that you put all you could recall but have sent of for additional documentation to furnish them.

Don't overthink the application process, it's not as difficult as some applicants try to make it for themselves.

Sometimes it helps thinking of the people that you worked with rather than the actual job. Once you remember the person or persons the memory of the exact jobs will follow.

I've never been 100% accurate on those dates. Honestly, I'm only 100% certain on my law enforcement jobs, for the state provides me with my TCLEOSE personal info if asked.
Jobs back when I was 17 to 22 I'm in the general vicinity, same as addresses.
Never had a perspective employer call me to the carpet because I missed a change of residency by a few days, but I guess it could happen.

You lived in 12 places all over the country in 10 years? I can't blame you for not remembering exact dates, but unless that much moving around was totally out of your control (e.g. parents), that would raise concerns with me about your stability issues.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

I can see where you are coming from with that.
But I worked in real estate, and I flipped houses. I would live in the houses, fix them up, and sell them for a tidy profit. And after the house sold, I would rent a place until I found another house that was a good investment.

When I was 19 I moved to the midwest just to see how other people lived, moved back about a year later, * I didn't much care for the cold weather. Moved back in with my parents on my arrival back, then they moved. I moved with them.
Then I got my own place, moved in there.
Met my future Ex wife, and got a apartment with her.
Then we bought a house. And I started in real estate flipping.
I got hired by Honolulu PD and moved out to HI.
The first house we rented out there flooded out in a Monsoon. and we had a move to another.
After my start date was staggered out, and my family was having some issues here back on the west coast, I returned to Los Angeles to assist my mother with probate actions after both of my grandparents passed away.
On my return to LA we moved in with her, and moved again into our own place.
When My wife and I seperated I had to find a place fast, so I rented a Room from somone, then an apartment, and now I am currently in a house I am renting.
I have no plans on moving for quite some time.

I have never been evicted or had any kind of negative moving experience.. Just a lot of moves.
I hope that clears it up a little.
