    Baltimore PD

So I have passed every other requirement to become a Baltimore police officer. (I am in the expedited services) Killed the physical, crushed the psychological, passed the medical except for one part. They require a 20/100 uncorrected vision. Unfortunately, I came out with a 20/200 uncorrected vision. With contacts, I am 20/20. Will this one thing really keep me from becoming a police officer? Also, my friend who is military is telling me that there could be a chance for them to waive the 20/100 standard because they do need more female officers. I do know that I was 1 of 6 women who made it through to the background interview, polygraph and physical. Please someone please tell me that my uncorrected sight won't keep me from becoming a police officer!!!

Take this FWIW as I dont live or work in MD, but they most likely won't/can't bend the rules, no matter who they need. PA has the same eye requirements now. Had I got out of the academy recently I would need LASIK before becoming certified. At the time I went through there was no uncorrected requirement. I don't know what your finances are but I suggest you get LASIK.

You'll also want to check if that is the state standard or just the department standard.

    rpaulsen-

    Welcome to RealPolice.

The original poster of this thread has not logged on since he asked the question (and indeed, never even read the answer given) so I doubt that he will ever see your question.

It is customary for new members to introduce themselves in the appropriate area, and if you have a new question, start a new thread instead of hijacking someone else's.

As to questions about the polygraph, we generally don't give out specific questions here. There is a thread about polygraphs in general here that you can look at to get a better idea about the process.

Stick around, introduce yourself, do some searches, and good luck in your quest!
