    Holmes youthful trainee act

does anyone have any knowlege about being on h.y.t.a. and actually getting a LEO job? i live in michigan and have talked to M.C.O.L.E.S. and they said it isnt a disqualifier and i can still be certified but i will have to still disclose that i was on hyta in the past. it has been over 12 years now that i have been done with the program. as far as the records they are non public and i have an excellent driving record and have not done any drugs in the last 10 years, and even then it was only tried pot like a few times nothing serious. i havent even had a ticket in the last 10 years. any info would be a big help, i am currently going for my associates in criminal justice with the police academy so any help is much appriciated.

I'm not in Michigan, but if you talked to MCOLES and they said it's not an instant DQ, but you have to disclose it, then i imagine that it's not an instant DQ, but you'll have to disclose it.

Police hiring is a competitive process, and having that in your background is a negative. What positives do you have to set yourself apart from your compeition?

Your record is non-public to the public but not to any LE Agency. If you apply to get into LE you will have to disclose EVERYTHING.

Besides not getting into trouble ( or not getting caught , whichever applies) , what good , positive things have you done with yourself over the past 10 years that would make us think you are a good candidate ?

Getting a CCW is OK but almost anyone can get one.

What have you actually DONE ?

well i have held a good job for the last 13 years until the plant recently closed. now im in school going for criminal justice at one of the top CJ schools in michigan i have raised my 3 kids one who is now 12, i guess that is good lol. i have been working in customer service now for 3 years along with working at an assembly plant that just closed down last march. so i dont mind working long hard hours, or being on my feet all day long. havent got any tickets or any other trouble EVER. i am an excellent employee and i have great people skills.

I suppose most of it would depend on what kind of felony you pled out on.

it was assault with intent to do great bodily harm. it was 13 years ago also. Hyta stands for holmes youthful trainee act, its where your case isnt set as a conviction unless you mess up on probation and afterwards your record is made private not public so its kinda like it never happened

I don't think the person you assaulted would say it 'never happened'.

Ahh I see, believe it's called probation without verdict here.

I was just trying to figure out what type of Youthful Trainee place was created by John Holmes?
Excuse me Officer, I have a stupid Question. "No problem, I've got a stupid answer for you!"
