NYPD Officers please give advice. Thanks

I have a question for any NYPD officers, I plan on taking the test next year, Im 22 and go to college full time, although Ive been going to college on and off for the past 4 years, Im sticking to it this time. For the past 3 years I have worked at my parent's deli/restaurant full time, but I don't get a paycheck, other than my parents vouching for me when the time comes for the bacround investigation there is no record of me working there. They don't pay me on the books or even off the books, my parents give me money when I go out with friends, to buy clothes, etc. They don't give me a salary though, I have worked two different jobs this year but I quit them after a week or so, I know that's not good but I didn't like them. Im in the process of joining the army reserves, so Im hoping that will benefit me. My question is will the NYPD not hire me because of my employment situation? Any suggestions or advice? Thanks

Yes,, advice = Police ELSEWHERE.. The nypd has zero attraction now besides a paycheck. The benifits of being a civil servant in the nypd have been stripped away. Look into it if you don't believe me.
