I guess it would depend on the exact circumstances of the alleged confiscation.
More details will get you clearer answers.

My new hero!
Citicop, this is a long one.
I should have included ANY prospective employers in my question, also.
I am underemployed right now, after massive layoffs, (but do have a job in this economy) and am job searching a little more professional positions. Then I recalled this incident and if it could affect my chances, and am concerned.
It was a mail order and I received an empty shipping envelope with an advertisement type page by the FDA saying, "think it's safe buying medicine from outside the United States? Think again", warning that it is risky business, could be fake, wrong ingredient, or no medicine at all, and could be dangerous to your health. And in other words, fraud.
Next page was from CBP notifing me that a package (shipping envelope) addressed to me containing controlled substances had been interdicted. "However, the CBP has decided to allow you the option of voluntarily abandoning the property......". And I could elect to do nothing in response. Or I could checkmark a third page to petition the return of the property. I elected to do nothing. It also said to note that future attempts to import controlled substances may result in personal penalties or prosecution.
At the very top of the page in fine print was the generic name of a medicine. I researched it and it was a common medicine for gross obesity. Lesson learned.
I have a flawless background history, not even a moving traffic violation, excellent credit score, etc., etc., and hope this doesn't dash my chances. I've had mandated, routine, random employee testing for years. I don't do drugs and never have.
If I sound a bit defensive, rightly so, after Kimble's post.

You left out a bit of pertinent information in your first post. Your second post leads me to believe there is a record of this incident. One that would be found in a background check. Roll the dice and increase the strength of your boots of explanation. Your gonna need them.![]()
