    stress test advice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, last week i took a stress test for a local department. i already have a conditional job offer and back grounds are done but i didnt do well on the stress test. my heart rate jumped up and the Dr. failed me. Im in excellent shape and i also graduated from the academy last november . i was just wondering if anyone has any advice for me because i would had to lose this job offer on the last step of the hiring process.
    Thank you

You probably better talk to a doctor, preferably a cardiologist. We're just cops.

My take, and I can assure you I mean no personal offense.

You failed a physical test used to identify those physically unsuitable for the intended job.

Perhaps it may be wiser, and more beneficial to both you, and the public, to pursue a different career path?

There is a reason that there are no 170LB offensive linemen in the NFL...

Yes there are - you just can't see them because they're underneath all the 300+lb linemen...

Sweet baby Jesus... You mean a stress test made your heart rate go up?

    Who'da thunk it?!?!

If you can't pass that test, maybe you need a less stressful career. How about airing up mylar balloons at a florist shop? Oh crap. If the balloon pops, that'd probably boost your heart rate, too.

Hey! Maybe ask if you can retake the test and simultaneously post on the internet. If needing to reduce your stress level prompted using in excess of 20 effing exclamation points, maybe that's all you'll need to pass a second test!

Just for a measuring guide, I'm 65 year old with emphysema and I just passed a stress test last week. Go see a cardiologist, seriously.

It ain't a bad job, but not worth having your heart explode when you're chasing some 16 year old burglar through back yards. That's why we administer those tests.

And 300 lb linemen clean 170 lb linemen out from between the cleats of their shoes.......

Was this a cardiac stress test looking for heart disease? If your in good aerobic shape, I think it would be odd to fail it for just heart rate. I think RDS is right. You should probably see cardiologist asap. Probably before you excercise again because your problem might not be fitness level. Google "runner dies of heart attack". they are in great shape.

if nothing else they can repeat the test and give you another datapoint. And if he found something else, the job offer may have just saved your life.

I'm confused on this stress test, what is it?
Do they show you or put you in stressful situations scenarios, or is this the one where you get on a tread mill?
You'd have to be near coma not to have your heart rate increase when faced with a threat like a suspect physically assaulting you, pulling a gun or knife on you.

If a doctor failed him, I would strongly suspect it was the tread mill.

Well, apparently he's not in as good of shape as he thought.
