    Question......Please Read.

Hello, can the Law enforcement agency which i am applying with look at my Background Packet(s) from other agencies that i prevesouly applied with? The reason i am asking this is because the last agency i applied with i omitted something that i should have put on it (turned out not even to be a disqualifier). I am just curious because on the other Background packets that i have filled out it says" will not be released outside out of the chain of command" Is the chain of command only in that department or with all?

Omitting something is sort of a serious thing in backgrounds. Alot of times they dont even care what it is, as long as your honest...unless it is a felony or violent misdemeanor. They know we all make mistakes. What was it you omitted? Purposly? or accidentally?

Departments will look at other departments backgrounds to find consistency in being honest.

Make the "new" dept aware that you unintentionally omitted an item on a previous application to another dept. Just so it is "on the record". If the previous agency is still a possibility as far as getting a job, call them and let them know.

on the application it says "will not be realized outside of the chain of command" what im asking is can the agency i am currently applying for look at my background packet from another agency?

The reason being is that while i was in High-School i worked for a car wash. The boss didn't like me and i didn't like him. We had a few choice words and i was fired. I do not want the agency im applying for to contact them(because the "guy" will defiantly give me a bad reference). Im not trying to be dishonest because when i first applied for a law enforcement position it asked for ALL jobs that i have held(did not get hired there). The agency that im currently applying for asks for all the jobs ive held within the last 7 years and this job does not fit into the 7 year period. But i do not want them to look back on my previous applications and see that job and contact them.

I have been told that legally they cannot look back on previous applications, because of the waiver that i signed with the past agencies saying that "The information that is obtained during this background investigation will no be realeased to ANYONE outside if the Background unit chain of command". I might have answerd my own question =-)

Be up front with your firing, they usually ask if you were ever fired anyway. Be TRUTHFUL as they will likely find out and if you INTENTIONALLY omitted ANYTHING , regardless of the reason, you will not be working as an LEO.

A lot of people have gotten into an argument and got fired. It really isn't a big deal. It isn't as though you were working on matters of National Security etc. Personality conflicts happen a lot. It doesn't mean that much if it only happened one time. Explain that you and the boss were not on good terms. They will expect the old boss to say some not so nice things about you but would anything he have to say REALLY mean anything as far as you becoming an LEO ?

BHG, You are looking at the whole process the wrong way.You are looking for loop holes and trying to rationalize what you should or should not disclose. Any department you go to is going to want an honest person. Trying to find ways to hide things in your past is not the direction you want to be going. Believe me when I say what you did in the past is not nearly as important as being honest about it. If getting fired from one job is the only black mark you have you will be fine. Even if this person gives you a bad reference your BI will see through it if the rest of your references say good things about you.
And your whiney *** crybaby excuse would be....
