Yep, just based upon what the girlfriend has told us (who knows what she is not telling us?) the guy's application would be placed in File 13 and his name on the permanent DQ list upon initial review by our background unit.

We have way too many people applying who have not trafficked in narcotics or hung out with criminal street gangs to even waste time on the less than desirable applicants. Hell, even when the economy was good and we were giving out recruitment incentive pay trying to fill slots would we have considered someone with this tarnished background.

Maybe it's just my less-than-pristine image of cops in the NoVa/DC area.

Funny. I just recently wrote a letter to the County extolling the exceptional performance and professionalism of the fire and police departments of Fairfax County because their performance has been THAT good.

Yeah. The thing I'm hoping for (and this is just a guess and likely totally ignorant, so all of don't get into some cocky remark about what I'm about to say) is that the areas we live in-- Fairfax Co and Loudoun Co-- are known to have some rough areas (ever seen Gangland? In the Northern VA/DC episode, a few of the scenes are shot right by my house, and one of the main focuses of the episode on a particularly bad spot is where he grew up)

Ninjapwr, you seem like such a level-headed girl.....99.9% of Fairfax and Loudoun County look nothing like that Gangland episode....in fact are some of the most beautful places in the country. Look into moving into that other 99.9% by sharing rent with one or more people and you'll think differently of the police, your neighbors, your schools, your county, just about everything as well. You sound like you have potential; my advice is to move out of that area.
