    The jail is what you make of it. I would say that it is mostly boring. Yes it stinks, but it also stinks when a drunk blows chunks in the back of your patrol car. This job isn't all glamour, you are going to have to deal with some pretty gross things. Sometimes you have to go through the trials and tribulations of life. You had some fun when you where a kid and now you must pay. If that means doing something you don't want to do for a few years then so be it. Ask yourself, how bad do I want to be a Police Officer and what am I willing to go through to get what I want.

    You have a good point, larger depts which work tough areas (Detroit, DC, Houston, NYC) are always looking for candidates. However you had better be prepared to get hired by those depts and work those streets, it ain't no fun.
