Perhaps your repayment should also include a letter of apology. And don't send them $80 a week. Send them the entire amount at one time.

As someone who was a small business owner years ago, if you had come to me with the money (or a good chunk of the money) and told me (without admitting specifics) you owed me this, had made some immature mistakes, but had learned your lesson, and would never do it again.... and was on track to be the most upstanding citizen (assuming you convinced me), I would be very, very, impressed with your character. And would probably go out of my way to help you in other endeavors. It's not how you fall down but how you pick yourself up. And we Americans love stories of redemption.
