I know plenty of Military people that have gotten out from ages 38-50 and have had no issues getting on with Agencies.

    Good luck.

My class president was 52. He was named officer of the month last month at his detachment. I also work at my particular detachment with a 44 year old. He made a large narcotic seizure last week. Age doesn't mean anything to most places if you can do the job.

You've got plenty of good years yet to go my friend...........same thing I tell myself well into my 40's.
There's something to be said about maturity and wisdom, plus I've seen some young Bucks who are badly out of shape.
Don't you know the 40's are now the new 30's.
Good luck to you in your career. In a way I'm starting my whole L.E. career again in my 40's, so you've definitely got my thumbs up.

    Thanks, again, everyone! Very encouraging!

Just got my T-Score in the mail...71. Holy shnikey, batman!! : )

I know that helps getting into the Academy, but will a police force care? I hope so.

Good Lord, I hope it doesn't matter! I'm scaring the hell out of 35 and have thought along the same lines. I first put on a badge as a military policeman in the USMC after having just turned 18. Kept on through my early 20's. I know that I felt indestructible back then, and think that I would do a lot of things much different. I think the younger guys get the 'protect' down just fine, but with experience you learn to 'serve' better. I think officer discretion is one of the most important tools used in the field.

On a side note, if Safety Steve can do it, by God so can I! I hear he actually was dropping mothballs on a few runs at the academy!
For me, before there was the Thin Blue Line, there was the Blood Stripe! Semper Fi!

Our fear reminds us that we are not God, our faith reminds us that He is!

**DISCLAIMER** I'm not a current LEO, but have six years experience with two city PD's in NC and TX as a sworn officer. I'm in the process of returning to LEO work ASAP.

Mmmmm, mummmmm, ummmm, there, I could not speak until I put my dentures back in! So you have been doing a little background check on me, you young little whipper snapper!

I was so far ahead of the youngins, I had to drop mothballs so they knew where to go! lol

Of course I did a background check on you! Every kid in Texas have to in grade school, with you being the model for Big Tex and all... Anyway, I look forward to hearing stories from the old days. I will probably not even notice when you start to drool!
