    Misdemeanor??

I made a stupid mistake 11 years ago and received a misdemeanor theft conviction (PCM487 (A) & PC475 (c). I have a Bachelors of Arts in CJ, run marathons, have 11 years management experiance and am bilingual in Spanish.
I have decided to put myself through basic. Will my misdemeanor theft conviction hold me back from getting hired after the academy?

Well, they're certainly not going to give you a check plus for it.

Which state? What did you take? How old were you? Was it from an employer? What were the circumstances around the theft? Was it a higher charge but was plead down to a lesser theft charge?

    All depends...

We have cops here from all over the US, and even in all over the world. Why would you think that putting some random statute in your post - with no reference to what state you're talking about or simply saying in plain English what the offense was - that we would understand what crime you're talking about?

Those 2 penal code sections look like the CA ones for Forgery and Grand Theft. I am assuming you're in CA?

A theft is an intentional act , not a mistake. A mistake is when your socks don't match.

Time is your friend but it is a criminal offense that just isn't going away. Apply to a pd and see what happens.

Yes, it was forgery/theft from an employer in CA. I was 20 years old. After I did it, I went back and paid him the money(about a month after). Two weeks after I returned it, I had an officer contact me. I was arraigned with two misdeamenors.
