    Yet another DQ question

I appreciate any and all insight into my situation. I have read through previous threads but really wanted to get feedback on my own DQ.

I was DQ'd from the NYPD process. I found out verbally after asking, but have received no official letter yet. I'm actually not sure why I was DQ'd but was told it's "possible" it had to do with the Psych. I felt really good throughout the process so am really confused and extremely disappointed.

My question is, basically, will being DQ'd from the NYPD negatively impact my hiring at other departments in the country? I have applied to others. Of course I will be open and honest about why I was DQ'd (once I know why myself of course). I'm just nervous for my future.

Do you know of anyone who was DQ'd (Psych, since that may be me or otherwise) and went on to get hired at another department? What was that person DQ'd for?

What steps would you recommend I take? Should I appeal? I know lawyers are expensive but will it look bad if I don't appeal? Do I offer the info upfront to other departments or wait until they ask about other departments I have applied for?

I really appreciate you taking the time to answer. Thank you.

Some NYPD guys can answer the appeal question, but flunking one psych isn't an automatic DQ with us. In fact, I know several people on my old department who flunked others and passed ours. Part of it is looking for a type of personality, not just weeding out nutcases. Just because you aren't a fit for NYPD doesn't mean you won't be what someone else is looking for.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

Smoked marijuana once in life as a young teen and admitted it, a few parking tickets, no crime, associate degree, haven't gotten in trouble... I wish that I knew what the official reason was but I'm hearing it might be awhile before the official letter comes.

Not sure if this will give you a better idea or not but any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

Smoking marijuana once in your life (unless you just smoked a bowl in the car on the way in to apply for the department) is not typically a disqualifier for law enforcement employment. Smoking crack once, sure, but not marijuana.

Before you post something and try to come off as knowledgable on a subject that you actually have *correct* knowledge on that subject.

The weed 1x is not the issue at all. There is something else...

    a) What did they ask/you answer about alcohol.
    b) How many parking tickets? Are they paid?
    c) Age?
    d) Employed? Doing what type of work? How long? How many jobs?
    e) Disciplinary issues at school and work?
    f) GPA?

Did you not read the posts above yours that already answer this questiion? Also, please don't post in threads that have not had active discussion in several months. Create a new thread if needed, but don't resurrect dead ones.
