    POST test help.

I have done pretty well in passing the post (I am in Oregon), but am getting stuck in that 85-87% range. Good, but not good enoughf. I am having trouble finding a way to up my scores so that I can make that 95% mark that seems to be the majic number to moving on to the oral? Does anyone know a way to get better at the POST? Maybe improve in the indivigual areas? A website or book that helps? It doesn't matter what it is to me, maybe what you did to make it will help me...im stuck.

You should only be asking one question in one area (don't crosspost).

I see errors in your posts (plural) - either you don't have as good a foundation as you think or you aren't double-checking or proofreading your work. Or both... Catching your mistakes will probably be worth a few percentage points...

I am trying to solidify my foundation. I did do poorly in the grammar, and the math sections. Reading comprehension was an 88%, and I know I was overthinking my answers, and report writing was a 92%. I know I can do better if I practice on my SOR's and stop shorthanding them ( I am currently a DPSST unarmed security officer).

I was wondering if anyone knows if any of these test prep sites actually help, or if it better to just study from indivigual books? I am having trouble finding recources targeted to what the POST tests on (Barrons doesn't help at all).

Obviously that is an area I need improvement on. So now that I have one spelling word for the week, would you know where I can go to study more of them. Like I said, help would be much appreciated.

You could take some classes at the local community college, or study on your own.

A Google search turned this up: Guide to Grammar and Writing

Thank you. That will actually help. I have been using this site (grammar bytes) and it helped to get the percentage up. What bothers me is that I almoust have my Associates in Arts, and received A's in all of my writing classes. I don't know what malfunctions in my head with these tests. Thank you again for the site. It is odd because everything is blending together from all of my studying.

Contact your local academy(ies) and see if they have study guides or reference materials available - also contact Oregon's equivalent of POST (I don't think they call it "POST" per se)...

That is the part that is getting confusing. Most of the state of oregon has began using the POST from Standard and Associates Inc. There are a couple versions of it, and the questions are all pretty easy if you have the time, but if you hit one stickler you are going to be gripping for time. I have the "study guide" and it was a couple questions that are similar to the questions on the test.

I did find this web program that says that it helps. It is policeprep.com.
I don't know if that would be worth it though.
