I had a search warrant for a crime I was never actually charged with a few years back. I'm now thinking of applying to be a police officer. Will this search warrant show up on my background check?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks!

When I was 21 I worked as an assistant coach at a HS and unfortunately was dumb enough to become a little too social with a 17 year old student. A search warrant was executed at my house...but I resigned from the position and was never actually charged with anything.

The search warrant may not be a big deal, but that is. If you resigned to avoid being fired for playing with a student, that will be a big mark against you.
Police are put in positions all the time where they can sexually compromise a member of the public. Any prior problem along those lines will be a red flag.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

Do you think this is something that would be a deal breaker? This is the only blemish in my personal history. I've held numerous other jobs since then with no trouble at all.
In plain English, that means child pornography (or at the very least text/instant messages about engaging in sexual activity with a minor). That's not like shoplifting a candy bar as a juvenile. Based on what you stated above, it could have been where the 17 yoa student claimed you had pictures of her naked (vice you downloading images of preteens or younger engaged in sex acts). But, this is no minor issue. If you apply for a police job, this will be investigated fully (and yes, there is likely an achive of this investigation in a police database). If it was a false allegation, that will be uncovered. If not, and it simply wasn't prosecuted for whatever reason, that too will be uncovered.
