    Canvass Leter (NY) Help

I just got a canvass letter from the test I took on 11/14, but I'm not sure how to proceed.

Specifically, what date do I put in the "Date Available to Start" field next to the yes option on the canvass letter? Especially because I have no idea how long the hiring process will take.

If anyone has any advice it wwould be greatly appreciated.

That is the date you are willing to start an academy. If you are a senior in college, put your graduation date.

If you are just working or willing to start the job today, put the date down the form is due back to them. They want to know how soon they can have you for a body so they can plan ahead. Don't worry about hiring time. You can puttoday down but you won't be hired for a few months anyways.

What agency is this for, I am going to guess its for SUNY? If it is anything like the other civil service agencies it can vary greatly, from a month or so to almost a year. I agree with what Joeyd6 said, put down when you are done with school if you are in college or whenever you would be willing to start the academy.

Yes it is SUNY. I put down the date that I would be able to attend the academy, even though I know the process, if I make it that far, would take much longer.

    I will keep everyone updated.
