I must say that a 16 yo getting jiggy with a 12 year old is NOT cool.
Don't be a police officer. Out of respect for the profession don't even try.

You decide when you need a lawyer..................
Old people may not live to see the collapse of our Nation. The rest of you may not survive the collapse.
A lie told often becomes truth. (Valdimir Ilyich Lenin)
Look at it from the agencies point of view:
1) you are a representative the city/county/state
2) how are you expected to enforce the laws that you so easily broke? That ain't jaywalking we are talking about here!
3) if you do get on somewhere, you are a defense lawyers wet dream. You would be presented as morally compromised to any jury/ judge. It would be way to easy to question anything else you did!
4) there would be the chance that the victim (and that is what she was) came forward down the road and embarrass the department and fellow officers.
I believe all people can change. I even believe you when you say you are sorry. Last, I believe you don't have a chance for the above reasons and a ton more.

**DISCLAIMER** I'm not a current LEO, but have six years experience with two city PD's in NC and TX as a sworn officer. I'm in the process of returning to LEO work ASAP.
I've got a friend I went to college with. He was a drug dealer in Boston for a couple years. He cleaned up his act and got into ministry. He's now a pastor and has been clean for a decade. Yes, I believe people can change, but unfortunately, serious mistakes in the past can haunt you. He doesn't want to be a cop, but I can tell you despite the fact that he has changed so dramatically, he could never be a cop if he wanted to because of his past. The reality is you had a physical relationship with a child. I doubt there will be any explaining of that one. Only way you'll know is if you ask a background investigator. I would not be jumping at your app though...
