Thank you, now i can look on a map and see that part of the state. I have never been past Pennsylvania so I am not familiar with that area up there.

Maryland transportation Authority, is that subways or what ya'll call State Police (Highway Patrol)? Be Safe.

Yes i do realize that. Unfortunately the rest of my background is not that sparkling. I have a citation for trespassing on school grounds that was PBJ'd. In that incident i was going to pick up my girlfriend from her school when a young lady backed into my car. Unfortunately i did not handle the situation like an adult. I got angry and was yelling at her "what the hell is wrong with you" and such. The police that arrived on scene did not like my attitude at first. So he cited me with trespassing. Once i calmed down and apolagized to the both of them, he was very nice and explained the situation on the citation and told me he wouldn't be in court. I went to court and got probation before judgement. This was also in 2004. Other than that i have had credit problems in the past. I have no debts now, but due to living on my own with minimum wage jobs i fell behind sometimes. I have about 35 college credits and im still pursuing my degree. I have never done any drugs, never even so much as tried marijuana. I realize that i have a tough road ahead me. Wish me luck! I want to thank you for all your input and help. Truly appreciated!

No its different from State Police. MTA primarily focuses on the states toll facilities and such.

MTA is Maryland Transit Administration. They have the buses and trains

Maryland Transportation Authority is a highway patrol agency. They have security divisions at the Port of Baltimore and also do law enforcement at BWI Airport. However, their primary responsibility is any highway that connects to a toll facility, bridge, or tunnel. They operate highway patrol on I-95 through Baltimore City, US rte. 50/301, I-895, and I-395 to name a few. They also have a narcotics team and a SWAT team, and have some of the highest DUI arrest records in the state. Until 1991, they were called the Toll Facilities Police and only provided security at toll booths. They have been trying to shed the image of toll cop since they changed over in 1991, but people still confuse them. Don't be confused yourself as a potential applicant though, they are a MAJOR player in highway enforcement in MD and are one of the best departments in the state in terms of DUI enforcement and Drug Interdiction.

Just giving you a heads up if you do apply to MdTAP. It's a great department, but make sure heading in that you are aware of how much of a role in highway patrol they play. And believe me, if you make the mistake of calling them the MTA police at orientation, you'll be shown the door, lol. They hate that

Thanks for clearing that up. I knew they had a difference i just had a brain fart and couldn't remember. I heard rumors of the two joining and becoming one agency in the near future. Do you know if there is any truth to that?

It's in the works. A lot of political wrangling and such. Don't be surprised to see the MdTA absorb the MTA into their agency. The underlying issues are obviously personnel moves and training. The last MdTA academy had MdTA, Coppin State University Police, Baltimore City Sheriffs, and Annapolis Police in the same class. The MTA does not have their own academy, so they often send their people through the MdTA academy. The main reason a potential move is taking so long is because of training issues. MTA police officers will have to receive extra training of traffic enforcement, and making room for them is tricky. The MdTA officers are not likely to want to ride buses all day instead of patrolling 95 as well. Nothing is confirmed yet, but it's being heavily discussed. I doubt things will firm up by the next academy though
