    Question Please HELP

Hi, My name is Daniel and I am 28 years old. For the past 10 years i was and still am a small business owner. As we are all trying to recover and survive these tough times i have decided to change my carrier.
I have the most respect for every law officer and would like more then anything to become one. I know that the pay is not the greatest but think satisfaction of helping someone or putting bad guys behind a bars is much more satisfactory then just the money.
I am a United Stated citizen. 1996, when i was 14 I moved to the greatest country in the world USA (FL). I was born and raised half of my life in former country of Yugoslavia. Anyway, to make long story short i would like to become a police officer. I have few problems on my record.
One, i have GED not a highschool diploma.
2, i have 2 years of community college.
My biggest worry is my driving record.
Even though i have no speeding tickets, i dont have any fellony charges, i dont have any drug offences but however i do have few driving under suspended license and they are all uknowingly.
I have hired a lawyer in hope to help me remove some of these.
    My question is as follow.
Is it possible to become a police officer if your driver license was suspended at one point of time within a 3 years?
Thank you all for your help, i wish you very safe work and may god bless you, and your familly.
I would like to make change in my community and i know i would be able to, i would love to serve this country and the people in it. I would love to become police officer, thank you

My first question to you would be, how did you have a suspended license and not know about it? You said you have several, after the first driving while suspended charge I would have to think you would know about the rest of them and it wasn't a mistake.
In my area of the country you would need more than just three years to overcome that and be a valid applicant.
Excuse me Officer, I have a stupid Question. "No problem, I've got a stupid answer for you!"

Thanks for you reply, this is what i was afraid of. Well my license got suspended twice in the two months period over the same ticked, which i have paid but somehow and for some reason did not go throught the system. So even though i payed the ticked it ended up susspending my license twice in 2 monhs . its a huge mess that i am tryng to deal with.
    thanks for your reply

It will all be dependent upon hiring standards for the department you apply for. Be ready to explain in detail why the license was suspended, and what you did to correct the suspension.

Also, writing would be a huge part of your job, and your writing skills are lacking. Classes to assist you would be beneficial before you attempt to gain employment. Maybe then, enough time may have passed to allow the suspension issue to be less of an infraction on your employment possibilities.

One can only be so Open Minded before all that mind **** spills out, stains and ruins everything.

I recommend Verizon. I would say Alltel, but it got bought up..No more Chad.

    Not an issue.

Check to see what your agency of interest requires. Not necessarily an issue.

How can you not know after the first time, if not before, that your license is suspended? It isn't like they just pick a number out of a hat and suspend the license for no reason. Oftentiimes, it is because you didn't pay a ticket.

    Little late, isn't it?

Depending on the agency, once might be possible. Multiple (a few) isn't, especially with so many people putting in for it now. Agencies that are hiring have a lot of people to choose from and can afford to be selective.

Competition for jobs in Florida (and everywhere else really) is quite fierce. Someone with DWLS convictions isn't going to get hired, especially if they occurred anytime in the last five years. Getting a lawyer isn't going to help, as it will never be removed from your driving record.

Thank you all for your replies.
It is apparent that my writing needs improvement as for the fact that English Is not my native language. This is something that I am working on every day, and will be gladly signing up for some extra classes to improve my writing.
My driving license record is a mess. Last time when I was pulled over and given a ticket for driving under suspended license unknowingly, officer recommended to me to take it to court. He said they would supine him and that he would tell judge that I am a nice guy, who has cooperated and that I did not know that my license was suspended. And hopefully judge could do something about it so that it doesn’t go under my record. Just for the fact that I was able to register my vehicle and transfer it from the company name under my personal name, while my license was suspended and I was not notified or told about this till I got pulled over with my new license plates.
Apparently, police officer that pulled me over knew what would happened if I did not take this case to court. I did not know that if you have 3 DWLS within 5 years you automatically fall as a habitual offender 
Like I stated, I was not aware of the law and instead of me following officer’s advice I went on and paid everything and had my license reinstated. Unfortunately, me paying the above ticket I admitted a quilt to it.
Few weeks had past and I moved to a different city, same county. When I went to change the address on license, lady at the DMV told me if I was aware that my driver license was pending suspension for 5 years. This was a huge shock and an unpleasant surprised.
Now, I am in a process of fixing this by hiring a lawyer to reopen the case as this is what I was advised to do by the state personal.
While all of this is going and hopefully one day it will get fixed, I would like to find out if anyone knows if I would be able to sign up for the school to become police officer. This is something that I want to do. And I don’t care how long it takes I will become police officer one day. I think and know that I can make a difference and I feel that this is my purpose.
I have the outmost respect for every officer and there is nothing more that I would like to do then to become one.
It may take 3 years, it may take 5 years, but I am confident that one day I will be able to proudly wear a badge and make a difference in my community.
Thank you all, be safe and may god bless you and your family
    Yours truly

    Danny

Get hired by an agency. Not all states will allow you to graduate from an academy without having a department sponsor you. I would imagine this is to keep the wannabes from going through the program and making arrests and traffic stops under their 'authority' as police officers.
