    Yonkers Raceway Police Department

Recently attended Yonkers Raceway and immediatly was approached by a Yonkers Raceway Police Officer out in the parking lot on a bike cuz i made a U-TUrn and he tore into me...I couldnt see if he was carrying. Then i went inside and there were Raceway Cops all over the casino checking ID's. Are these like auxillary cops? None of them were carrying a firearm and all looked like they had legit badges..Someone please fill me in

quick search online, and on wikipedia shows that they are private security, and on the wiki on "police agencies in westchester" there's no yonkers raceway police.

I mean, we're getting killed for these people and they don't even appreciate it. They think it's a big joke.

Remind them they are scurity guards, and tin them. If they get stupid with you, advise them you want to see their NYS Security Guard ID. A new law states it must be worn and displayed when working (which they don't). Then let them know you will file a formal complaint with the NYS Dept of State. If they get stupid....do it. When they lose their license, they will not be happy.

This thread takes me back! A few years back I worked part-time as a deputy for a sheriff's office, and twice a year we (as well as several PDs/SOs in our area) provided security at a large NASCAR track on race days. The track had it's own security guards, but they made the rednecks that came to the race look high class! I remember one of them (who looked like a reject extra from the movie "Roadhouse") chasing down a drunk dude, the drunk guy was sprinting on foot, the guard was in hot pursuit on a segway. Once the drunk guy ran up the stadium stairs, the pursuit ended in defeat for the guard. Several of them would deal with minor situations by escalating them by being an ***, and then would try to "order" us (the uniformed cops) to arrest the people they were arguing with (which of course we always refused and told them to get back to "observe and report")... it was ridiculous!

Intelligent, professional security guards I'm happy to work with any time, but my experience at race tracks (from having worked at two in two different states) is that they tend to hire from the bottom of the barrel. The responses in this thread seem to serve as further proof to what I already believed.
