I want to start a career in Law Enforcement but...

Need some insight from the helpful members on this site.

    So here's my story...

I'm 31 y/o and I was laid off from my job in the real estate industry (there's a surprise) I've done a lot of research and made a decision for the right reasons to pursue a career in law enforcement. I'm in the process of getting a degree in criminal justice, but I have some concerns that might hamper my chances.

My love for muscle cars has gotten me some speeding tickets...2 recently through 07-08 and one of them for going over 100mph which resulted in my license being suspended for 30 days. I know this is a huge black eye. What are my chances with this on my record?

My credit has taken hit during this recession but I'm taking the steps to get it back on track. I don’t have a criminal history and I smoked a joint about 7 years ago.

I consider myself a good candidate in great physical shape. But I'm concerned about my driving history. Also is being 31-32 years old going to be a problem?

Any positive/negative feedback will be much appreciated. Just want to make sure I'm not ice skating uphill
Love the site. Keep up the great work

You had 2 100+ MPH speeding tickets and a suspension in the last 2 years?

It's not an automatic DQ, but with the amount of competition you will face, you will have a VERY tough time getting hired.

You were old enough to know better by then. I would give it another 3-4 years minimum with no trouble before you have a decent chance.

not to hijack this thread but do BI investigators care about non moving violations? IE meter tickets, no parking during street sweeping etc?
