Changes of joining NYPD with a misdemeanor DWI conviction? Just as good as anyone else, I imagine. There's lots of time in your enlistment to get caught doing more dumb things. Don't be that guy. Do all your time honorably and prove to the NYPD that you learned from your mistake. Hell, you might even like the Navy and decide to make a career out of it. Try to take college classes while you're in. Get meritoriously promoted. In essence, do anything good you can do to try and offset the DUI charge. Only time and good hard work can swing things in your favor.

Kinda like the concept of "karma".
Of every one hundred men, ten should not even be here. Eighty are nothing but targets. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the One... One of them is a Warrior... He will bring the others back.

Not knowing NY laws, is a misdemeanor DUI worse than any other kind there? We will overlook ONE conviction if it was over 5 years ago and everything else is exemplary.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

1 DWI, and then military will not be a permanent DQ from NYPD. Stay out of trouble, and maybe avoid alcohol altogether.

I mean, we're getting killed for these people and they don't even appreciate it. They think it's a big joke.

No one can give you a def. answer, Only time will tell and depending how your investigation and psych go you may be alright. Many people have been hired with DWI's on their record, but it will def. factor into the big picture. , Do you military time and see what happens.

WOrd of advice, take the NYPD exam before you go away. This will put you ahead of a lot of people when you come back. Good luck
