Just the fact that you put "pattern on theft" in quotes in your post shows me you're not seeing the big picture. It WAS a pattern of theft, plain and simple. Also the mushrooms, even just once, would DQ you at my agency. The whole "I was young and peer pressured" excuse doesn't hold water with me. I was young once, I never stole or tried any drugs, and I was around "peers" that did things like that too. You know what I did? Left and stopped hanging around with them.

Not trying to crap on you but these posts always bother me. Who knows? Maybe someday you'll get hired somewhere but I wouldn't hold my breath.

a) did you know it was wrong to do when you were doing it
b) why did you do it (recklessly, intentionally) that's the culpability (btw the answer is intentional)

Maybe at 6 years old you can say you didn't know it was wrong, but at 13, you should have been well aware of at least that it was morally wrong, and probably that it was legally wrong.

The larceny when you were fired, at 17, you could have been charged as an adult with a misdemeanor or a felony depending on the value, and the state.

Your pattern of theft was at least over the course of 4 years (13-17).

Every department I have applied to lists that any hallucinogenic drugs are an automatic DQ, no matter how long ago the usage was...

I think you should probably look for another career field, unless there are departments that allow for use of LSD type drugs in the past...

Just so you know you sound like the typical guy that comes here, looking for honest feedback about his history, gets it, and then tells people they don't know what they are talking about...

If you have all the answers, why bother to ask questions...? Something to think about...

I'm still new here, and still trying to get into the field, but even I see the pattern of theft, coupled with a bad driving record, and drug use is not in your favor...

Good luck in your endeavor, but you're going to find it extremely tough when you're competing against guys that have much cleaner backgrounds than yours...

I doubt it. I tried to tell you nicely, but it's going to take more than a few more years to prove that you're still not a thief. The duties of the job are such that people with your background simply aren't safe to hire. If you don't like hearing that, then go somewhere else.
