The "no news is good news" addage...

I had my polygraph test 3 weeks ago as of tomorrow. I was told that the next step in the process would be an oral interview. I was also informed that I was one of the first applicants that took the poly test. However he did allude to the fact that 3-4 guys already hadn't showed up for their scheduled appointment.

I was also told during my background interview that anyone who will be offered a position would most likely be notified before Thanksgiving. The academy would start the 2nd week of January.

My question to those that have experience with notifications is, is it a good thing that I haven't recieved a notification at this point? I'm assuming if I hadn't "passed" the poly or have been DQ'd I would have recieved a notification of this information by now.

The process will be moving somewhat quickly from here and I'm just getting anxious, as I'm very close to my short term goal.

    Thanks for any insight.

No news is good news in my opinion. After my backround investigation it took nearly 5 months to get a call back. It drove me crazy not hearing anything. Out of the clear blue I received a call saying that I had passed my investigation. Before I knew it, I was hired. So Hang in there, just be patient, its all you can do for now.

Hang in there chief. Like DPDEric said, it can take a while.

I waited two months to get the word after my first poly, and it wasn't the good word either. It's been posted before, but the best piece of advice I can give you is to just go about your daily routine and when the call comes, it comes. I found the wait much easier to bear after I was told to do just that. In the meantime, keep up the PT and stay out of trouble :p.

Thanks for the positive reinforcement. I'm gonna just keep my head in my books for the next couple of weeks and try to keep myself busy helping out at my son's school and hitting the gym a little more than I have been. Maybe it'll keep my mind off it and I won't be so anxious.

I am carrying 3 A's for this semester so far. Almost makes me wish I would have taken that 4th class now. :(

Isn't it still something like a month until Thanksgiving?

I guess you will learn how fast Governments work ... or don't... soon enough.

Yup still 5 weeks until Thanksgiving but I figure they have to interview 20+ guys, evaluate and make offers by that time... It'll go by quick I'm sure...

    Police Academy in 2 weeks

Hopefully the no news is good news theory stands true. I am nearing the end of a strenous highway patrol application process and have not heard from the agencey in a month. A month ago I had a home interview with the lieutenant and have not heard from him since. The next step in the process is the polygraph. It is 2 weeks until police academy starts and I am uncertain if I am still a canidate for the job. Is it typical for agency's to wait until the last minuet to schedule polygraphs and notify canidates of academy? Also do agency's call final canidates to cut them out of the process? I talked to a person that is at the same stage I am in the process and he stated he recieved a call last week stating he was cut. I am unsure of what to think?

I'd think that if your buddy recieved a "no" call 2 weeks ago and you haven't, you're still in the running. Apparently some departments will conduct polygraphs after you're in the academy. Seems odd to me they would do that but every dept is different.
