Zack - still good to hear you guys are hanging in there.

Curious question, in your classes have they covered why DPS doesn't have a motors/motorcycle division or why all the cars are marked? Not even slick tops. I remember years back when the Mustangs and later the Camaro cars were at least slick tops. What happened?
For me, before there was the Thin Blue Line, there was the Blood Stripe! Semper Fi!

I know a Troop that was one of the very last to patrol on motorcycle on the Highway. The bottom line was the motorcycle was seen as too dangerous and too many Troops either got hit or had some accident on them.

We do have slick tops. Not all are marked. Guess you haven't noticed them

I didnt know we had slick tops either. The unmarked cars are driven by supervisors, they dont see much patrol time.

Way to hang in there Zack. I finally got word that everything is on hold for the 2010 Trooper Academy, which sucks. I guess the fire code violations haven't been addressed yet. They say they don't even know when the next academy will be held. Have you heard anything? Good luck and God bless.

Thanks for the input! Safety first I guess. Up in NC, they use quite a bit more gorilla tactics with their variety of vehicles and how they are deployed. Personally, if it was offered, I would be all over a motor patrol. In the end, I'd just be happy to be hired!

Well just to let everyone one know that is waiting for the next academy all your questions have been answered. My recruiter call me this morning and told me that the next academy is set for June of this year. He told me to go ahead and turn in my applications to start the process. To anyone that has been waiting good luck and keep us updated.

    Week 19

Week 19 is now in the books.

All I can honestly say about this week is WOW.

Midnight PT sessions are a little much when having to sit through Driver's License Law and Transportation Code.

Running with medicine balls isn't too much fun either.

It will make us stronger in the end though. Just have to remain positive.

We got our Duty Districts this week. Bryan, here I come.
Meeting with the Captain on Monday to finalize our stations, but I'm almost certain that I'm going to be assigned to Madisonville. Praise God, I got my first choice.

    More Transportation Code next week.

Congrats on the duty assignment! For me, that will be the biggest thing after finding I finding out I got hired.

That midnight wake-up after the early AM and long hours would stomp me good. I don't work all that well on little sleep. I wonder why the games as far along as you are. Sounds like that would be more punishment than building up.

    Week 20

Week 20 is now in the books.

    5 months in!

What a week. PT went back to normal. Had a few runs. Had a nice run on Thursday with our body armor on, that was a test, but circuits are always the most fun. We have TSDs on Monday!!! Time to get my mind right!

We had Transportation Code and HAZMAT for the classroom partion. Got a 88 on the TC Test. Excited about that. Our instructor was amazing. GREAT MAN! Its awesome to see a man of God in such a position as he.

Duty Stations were finalized. Madisonville out of the Bryan District!
    Truly Blessed!

The weeks are really starting to add up.

Getting "jumped in" on Monday! TSDs!

    8 weeks in counting!

Still on that path to April 9, 2010!

Congrats on the finalized station! That is huge!

TSD's! Now that will be a challenge! At this point, I bet you'd be ready to take on a platoon!

    Stay strong!

    Week 21

Week 21 is in the books.

TSDs were awesome! The entire class put up a great fight. It was said that we have been the best conditioned class in recent years. The running with the mouth pieces and body armor was a big part of that. Thanks to our PT instructor. We are starting to do more platoon challenges. Those are always fun!

Class this week went well too. Learned abot the In-Car Computers.

Another one quit this week. We are sitting at 94 now.

    Next week is Patrol Proceedures.

We have the Memorial Run in less that 2 weeks. It's 8 miles. I can't wait to get over that hill.

7 weeks left. Time is just coasting by.

The countdown to April 9 is approaching!!!

    Will update more later.

Good luck to the applicant applying.

    Take care. God Bless.
