So, apparently there are some big fire issues in the dorms at the Academy so we have all been moved to a hotel off campus. We will see how this plans out with next week.

??? What happened?? Fire issues? I know I had a spark in my bunk area but thought it was all taken care of.

So are they busing ya'll to PT in the morning or what??

Week 9 is now in the books.

What a short week it was!! Full of mornings of Penal Code and then had ACT:Baton Training in the afternoons.

The Hotel situation is more of a hassel than a plus. Getting up for 5 am PT at 3:30 now and not getting home until 9 is going to pull down on some folks eventually. Hopefully we have more than 1 bud driver starting next week. Next week is OC Spray. PRETTY STOKED!

Will update more later. Have a greak Thanksgiving everyone.

Stay motivated for PT. We are in week 9 and are up for running 5-6 miles in the morning. They smoke us on the other days with core and upper body stuff. Try to stay away from the heavy weightlifting as well, that was my mistake. haha.

Yikes! That right there was worth all my reading on the posts. I have been sitting around 3 miles/ day and pretty heavy with the weights and upper body stuff. Switching over to heavy running with a bunch of pushups/ sit-ups.

It is hard to keep hitting it so hard when both of next years academies are up in the air.

Keep us posted on your progress, even if just to prove you are still there and alive. It helps a lot to see what is going on! Keep up the good work.

Yeah, stick hard to the push ups, sit ups, and running. If you can, try to do crossfit training. That will be good preparation for the Academy. No idea when the next one will be though. Good luck with everything. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Funny you mention Crossfit. I discovered them about 3 weeks ago, and the WOD (Workout Of the Day) are brutal. I like that they are free and get them sent to my Email every day. I have been seeing some crazy gains since doing them.

I guess if I do have to wait months for the next academy, I can look at it as more time to spool up to 5-6 miles of running every morning.

How long ago were you told that?

Beacause we were told last week in the Academy that they don't know when the next academy will be due to the dorms needing to be repaired....I hope you're right though. Good Luck

I'm on edge about the delay. I'm selling my company and really need to be somewhere next year. If there is an academy next year, I can make that one. If not, I just don't know. I'm really torn, as DPS is where I really want to be.

On the dorm issue, some 'helpful' press found that many of the buildings on the academy are not up to code. There was an interview with the new DPS Colonel and they were taking his statements and using it against him with creative video editing. The media is never there when you need them. When you don't, they are always there to stomp a mud hole in things.

I was told that about a month ago about the July 2010 academy. Since you heard that last week I'm sure your correct. My recruiter is apparently no longer in Tyler anymore and someone else has taken his spot and I haven't talked to her yet. So, who knows, I just hope they have one next year.

Week 10 is now in the books as well.

We got OC Sprayed this past week. What an experience. I never want to do that again. It really tells you alot about yourself. How much you can handle and how to learn how to fight through a bad situation!

Also had our first penal code exam. Made a 100%.

On friday they let us out early due to the weather. It snowed all the way home.

Lots of Low Crawls and Snow Angels at PT on Friday...and can't forget the birpees.

Full week of Child Abuse next week along with our Spanish Final and our second Penal Code Exam

Congrats surviving the OC. I've been sprayed something like 6 times. I wish I could say it was all training, but I caught more in the field from another officer missing or someone spraying in a holding area. Believe it or not, that training can be very useful!

This week was pretty long.

4 days full of Child Abuse is pretty Taxing on the mind. There are some crazy people in this world.

Finished up Penal Code today. (Thank God). Now we just have to study for the 2nd major exam in for that subject which will be the day we get out for Christmas.

ACT was fun this week, Ground Work.

We are finally coming together s a group and a unit. The weeks are really starting to add up. 1.5 more weeks until our Christmas break/halfway point and when we come back, its off to Florence for 4 weeks of driving and shooting. I can't wait to get out of the classroom.

This week went smooth except for getting smoked in PT.

Use of force. Awesome topic, but sad example videos. Let the Legacy live on!

Next week is a short week, only 3 days and then we get our midway vacation. Then right when we get back, its all driving and shooting for a month. Pretty stoked.

The weeks are growing each week.
