Okay, for those of you who have been around and have read some of my posts from the past, you'll know that I have had HORRIBLE luck in finding a job with a larger agency! And usually I post on here about how the process has begun AGAIN, and then post every step of the way, and it ends in disappointment when I don't get selected.
Not this time...
Did it completely different, and had completely different results!!
A couple months back I got the email inviting me to take the PAT for the Escambia County Sheriff's Office, but never received the email with the physicians clearance to take the test. Found out I received the email in error. When I talked to my Chief, it actually came out as a blessing in disguise because I would NOT have been able to take time off when my little baby was born due to the fact I would have been knee deep in training at the time. So, depression solved at that point. But it was all posted for all to see...
Then, a couple weeks ago, I finally called just to see if there was someone I could talk to and see if I was wasting my time keeping applying or just had to wait some more. The HR lady put me in touch with a Lt. in charge of the hiring selection process, and he got me in to take the PAT! Talk about last minute, I only had 2 days to get the physicians clearance signed before it was run time!
So, I took that and passed with flying colors, and we did a basic qualification on the range which I also passed without incident. Many good comments were made about how I needed to be over there working with them.
Turned in the paper work and was scheduled for a poly 2 weeks later (just 2 days ago now). Took the poly on Tuesday and it came up inconclusive because the examiner said I was controlling my breathing too much, almost in a trance like state (he even showed me the graph, and it was weird!). So, figured I was toast, but they didn't cancel my interview for this morning...
Had the interview this morning, and it went really well. The Commander couldn't tell me yay or nay at that time, but told me that those who were selected would be notified by phone later that day, and then instructed me I should stay NEAR MY PHONE!
Well, within the hour of me getting home, HR was calling to offer me a position as a Certified Deputy Sheriff at Escambia County Sheriff's Department! WOO HOO!
So, now I barely have enough time to give 2 weeks at my current place of employment because it's the 2nd now and I have to report for inprocessing on the 16th, and start FTO on the 20th! WOW!
It's weird, 'cause I wanted to post on the progress, but just thought that if I did get turned down, at least it wouldn't be a public embarrassment again! LOL
Okay, gonna stop rambling now and go celebrate some more! Just gaffed off the entire rest of the day and spent it with my family, had a great & expensive lunch and then went to see Transformers 2.
Thanks for listening all those times before, and I'll keep ya informed how it's all going from now on!
