Even though the title of the thread says "need a little input" what I meant was "Need someone to back me up on my opinion."

Sorry we didn't have the answer you liked. Maybe if you ask around long enough, someone will tell you what you want to hear (even if it's not true).

In NY possession of drugs 5 w/intent to sell is a D felony, as is criminal sale 5. Criminal sale of a narcotic preparation is a class C felony, criminal sale of a narcotic drug is a class B felony.

Possessing a stolen car up to 3k is a E felony, over 3k and up to 50k is a D felony. Same for the grand larceny, up to 3k is an E, 3k-50k is a D felony.

So that would make selling narcotics the same or worse legally in Ny too.

It won't do you any good.

I don't believe that any of us agree to your "degrees of selling any drugs". You sold a controlled substance. Selling vicodin can get you more time than selling marijuana in many places. The fact that you are trying to minimize what you have done instead of taking responsibility says a lot about your character.

In NY weed sale doesn't become a felony until its over 25 grams, and possession doesn't become a felony until its over 8 ozs.

As others have stated, your 'mistake' has most likely ended any law enforcement aspirations you may have had. Sorry.

From what I have experienced from LEO's in real life, they are nothing like the people who make responses on this forum.
    I wish I could honestly say you don't have a problem. But, I can't.

You have a background problem that is going to be problematic for you. You either have to admit it, knowing you won't be hired, because you did commit a serious felony, even though you weren't apprehended, or you have to admit to a serious lie, beat a polygraph, beat the background investigation, start out your law enforcement career as a liar who will swear to a lie to get what he wants, and who will have to worry the rest of his life about the guy you sold them to, or someone with knowledge coming forward.

Does that sound like a pretty bad problem to you? It should, but as has been mentioned, it doesn't make you a bad person, it just makes you ineligible for any good law enforcement job I know of. There are plenty of other jobs out there (you can still be President).

It may not sound fair that you can do something at a young age that will follow you the rest of your life, and cause problems for you the rest of your life, but it is a fact of life. And, hopefully, other kids reading this post will have better lives as a result.

That will likely end up being the highest law enforcement purpose you serve, though.
