Once again, need another background check!

Hi, I posted in here 6 months ago and was told to abide by the law.

First off, I would like to say that I have quit weed, quit drinking, and quit smoking the cancer sticks.

However, I had committed a felony, and was not caught, but I feel like crap.

I committed it near January of last year, and I was either 14/15 at the time. I had intentionally viewed illegal pornography, (while I didn't search for it, I clicked it and had watched it). The video contained someone most likely around the age of 16 having sex. I've never watched anything like that again since then, and will NEVER watch it again.

Once again, I understand it is very serious, but I really wonder if they will understand that a 14/15 year old boy, going through puberty might just do something so ignorant as a one time thing.

I live in a small town in North Carolina, and due to it, I hope that they will have more forgiving hiring standards.

Since then, I've done a few adopt-a-highways to help out and I also plan to continue these, and to be the best person I can be.

I was wondering if I will be automatically be DQ'd because of this. Or if perhaps a few PD's have different hiring standards, and will overlook this if I put time, be honest, and also show that I have matured past it.

Right now I am 16, and I understand that I have a long time to worry about anything. I would just really like to know if I should I keep dedicating myself to becoming a cop or find something else.

(I also plan to talk to my schools resource officer and ask him if I could be eligible to work at a small local PD.)

Different agencies have different hiring policies and standards. There's no one blanket answer anyone can give you. All anyone can say is apply, be honest, and let the chips fall where they may.

In most places, you have to be at least 21 to get hired, so you have at least 5 years to stay on the straight and narrow, and keep your nose clean.

    Thank you sirs!

I live in a relatively small town, so the hiring standards may be a bit different.

I am going to talk to my schools resource officer (who works for the Sheriff's department) and explain my case. Hopefully he can ask someone who is in charge of recruiting if they will let the felony go.

As I said, I understand that it is a felony, but I also believe what I committed isn't as serious as armed robbery or assault.

    Gracias!
