Well I'm about to finish school in a few months and things have changed here and I might need to move to California...I just hope all the work I did for the academy here will do me some good out there.
I have not finished school but when I do, I need to find out CA Standards I suppose.
I might be able to get a job here, and do a transfer after a year though if all else fails.
I actually already have a job offer for when I'm out of school.
Considering that you're not actually certified in Florida until you get hired and start working, you can't transfer your certification anywhere without experience. I'm not aware of any state accepting only training from another state without experience to go along with it. I know that you can't be certified in Florida from out of state unless you had at least a year of full-time experience along with the academy training.
Same in NY. You're technically not certified until you have completed your field training and it is approved by DCJS. Even then most places won't let you transfer until you have at least completed your probation period. When you do transfer it really varies by department on whether they want to accept your training. I know a few guys who have transferred from NY pd's to other states and they did run into some pd's that wanted them to complete their entire academy. However, they chose to go to other pd's that only required 2-3 weeks of training, mostly state law, hope this helps.
